The things they don't want us to know!
I was told a story as a child regarding an Aston martin owned by one of my dads freinds out in Dubia.
His DB whatever it was? broke down and Aston flew over some technicians even using a helicopter to get to him this was back in the 70's so that wasn't cheap! They promptly fixed the car and flew home, now my dads mate was not with the car when it was repaired and called Aston a few days afterwards to ask what had been the fault with his motor, he was shocked with the reply.
What fault? What car? Even after speaking to a few different departments at no time did they admit a fault with the old Aston!
Fairplay Thier cars are that good nothing ever goes wrong!
I also heard a strory of a chap in a pub carpark showing his mate under the bonnet of his Rolls Royce and got a letter in the post a fews days later asking him to refrain from lifting his bonnet in public as people would think there is a problem with the car!! I like that one!
Have you ever seen a Roller or an Aston on a Pick up truck? I was told they have a arrangement with the AA that all their cars must be moved under cover?
After watching fight club and the job edward Norton did got me thinking how many things do we not get told that are really bad!
Anyone here on the inside know?
Just a thought.

Re the astons.
unless they have changed there policy there build quality methodology is very good. this is for the db 7 series i believe.. ( used to come out of didcot)
all the cars in the factory were on finished alloys.. untill they went round the test track, then the original wheels were removed and track alloys fitted. once testing was over the original wheels are refitted. likewise the drivers seat is not fitted until its ready to be dispatched, they used an old seat for round the factory.
Every 12th or 20th car that comes back from the test track has a full engine strip and each component is measured to asses it for wear, befoe being rebuilt
lots of visits to the factory!!!!
as for the rollers, the only one ive heard, is that they would put a curtain round the car when fixing a puncture..
but saying that, how many rollers have you seen with a puncture???

apparantly if you ever have an issue with a koenigsegg car, they fly one of their engineers to you at no cost, and they will fix it for you, also if you have any queries there is a phone number included in the owners pack so you can ring up the man himself and ask questions! now that is cool

I was at Elite in rainham, essex the other week and saw a db9 on the back of a low loader. It was Ronnie o Sullivans according to the chap that was loading it. It had 2 punctures and he'd had it taken from wherever he lives round that neck of the woods to elite to do the tyres.
They had just been done and it was just being loaded up to be delivered again. No special treatment apart from the delivery to and fro, gorgeous car tho

im told there is a problem with sum range rovers which keep chewing gearboxes/diffs shafts
its a common problem and costs them approx 3k each time one breaks, but they try to make out that its a extremly rare event
3k for every breakage the engineer at work has a mate who has had 2 of them break

I recall seeing a Lagonda which had been sent back from the States for a full rebuild - the cost was going to be £60k+ and the job was scheduled to take 4 months.
Compare this to a 911, which might need a full rebuild after 100k of extremely hard-driven miles.
Every Aston I've ever seen for sale that might be even halfway worth buying has a bulging folder of bills ..... these are supposedly the good ones.
The DB7 was a real step forwards, but was essentially an XJS in a nice frock. Looks pretty but just so much less pleasant to own/drive/be transported in than, say, an M5. More of a sense of occasion, obviously, but not a driver's car at all.

I've suffered a couple of breakdowns in Aston DBS V8's and you don't get any special treatment from the AA or RAC. You do get pointed at and looked at a lot though by passing motorists...although not as much as when you're standing by the side of a broken down Ferrari...then people actually stop to shout abuse and take the ****.

When my car broke down the driver who picked it up was telling me they had the contract for Masarati and had to move them under cover. They don't like the Scottish weather and break down all the time.

Was it true that the McLaren F1 cars were fitted with radio equipment that allowed Didcot to contact each car and check for faults etc?
