Saturday's grisly murders happened as a group of teenaged girls were walking through a cocoa plantation to their Christian high school near Poso.

Men armed with machetes attacked them, hacking off the heads of three of them and severely wounding a fourth. The survivor, identified as 14-year-old Noviana Malewa, is in hospital.

Local reports cite unnamed police officers as saying the surviving witness said there had been six attackers, wearing black clothing and masks.

I believe it. Religion seems to be a very good reason to be uncivilised in some people's minds.

Why cite something as far away as Indonesia? It wasn't so long ago that pipe bombs and stones were being hurled at schoolchildren in Belfast. In fact it was just before some religious zealot flew a plane into a building.

The photos of this have been up on Ogrish for a few days. If you look at them (and to be honest I wouldn't recommend it) you really do wonder what drives grown men to hack the heads off innocent young girls on their way to church - purely on the basis they don't agree with their religion.

How do you think public opinion would change in the UK in regard for punishment of criminals if those types of pictures were published here?

They are sickening but bring they you back to reality about what should be done with the culprits as we have become too detached and soft over here.
