why do they do it?

Have just heard one on R1 just now, some guy's girlfreind is playing silly buggers, so he rings scott mills to find out why......this guys name is Olly....

One of the girls on the show rings this Ollys bird, and cracks on she has won a free weekend away at some swanky hotel, she gets her name for the booking, and the name of the person she will be taking with her......and it's some bloke called David


The call ends, and scott mills then gets back onto Olly, who strangley enough at this point is doing an excellent impression of a dialling tone....

Why do people do this to themselves in public?

I didnt hear the first bit but I did hear it after 6pm. They got him back on the phone and got her on there as well. Ended up with her saying that she had been going out with this 'other bloke' for 3 years and then she hung up. Dont believe it all myself.

I heard all of this earlier - very funny, and I dont believe for one minute any of it was staged.

They did get hold of olly again in the end who had obviously been crying his eyes out for an hour after finding out the truth! They also rang his bird who was pretty shocked, and it admited she'd been with this other guy for 3years. She managed to also say **** on the radio, and ended up hanging up.

All very funny IMO!

I can assure you i know its made up.....but rather than tell you who i know which is none of your business why dont you try and listen to the show yourself?

in the sketch yesterday the hotel said they would book a room for the women.......now she said yes (which is fair enough if you forgive the "neighbours" style acting that went with it) She was asked who she'll bring and told it would be confirmed soon.....When??? she has just booked a night away with the person she's having an affair with with NO date in mind?

and even if it was real there is no way calls like that would happen live as they suggest they are.....its a Radio show- it has a script and most of the stuff you hear thats based on a situation that may not work (ie- calling someone on the phone- who may not even be there to answer it) happens long before the show airs.
its simply a funny sketch, its no more real than daffid, the only gay in the village! (oppps, i assume you know thats not true either )

Im with you and Tiggs on this. Come on, Scott Mills's show is so staged you've got to be a half wit not to notice.... Some of the things I might give a chuckle at but most of the show just isnt funny because its obviously staged.....

what is funny is the idea of these people sitting round a desk before the show working out little "out of the blue" sketches to sound off the cuff!

although i suppose it only works becase ppl belive it!

remember......its NATIONAL RADIO 1...not some Waynes World pirate show......its as scripted as Eastenders.

I am pretty sure a radio station would not be able to call you and publish the call "live" without your knowledge! It would be the same if a call centre recorded your call and did not inform you!
