Default War memorials/museums in Normandy

Hello

We are going to Caen and Arromanches this weekend for 3 days. We are taking my wifes grandad to see his brothers memorial in Ranville (he was a commando killed taking Pegasus Bridge).

Does anyone know if the museums and memorials in that part of France are open on Sundays ? Have planned the weekend but not taken into account the fact they might be closed Sunday !!!

Thanks in advance

Dave

Having been to Caen / Arrromanches area, its pretty much closed on Sundays as are most French towns. Most small businesses in France are also closed on a Monday. (Paris on a Sunday was a ghost town!)
Are you able to check on t'interweb first?

Looks like there are limited opening times (10-12, 14-1630).

Thanks

A lot of the coastal defences are just public accessable and in the same damaged condition they were left during the invasion, worth a stop if you pass any.

I strongly recommend the LeMemorial De Caen and the Canadian Museum on Juno Beach

There's a small museum in Falaise (or was a while ago) which seemed to have the curator living on site. Or maybe it was at his house/in hid garden. Either way it was pretty much an open-when-there's-a-visitor arrangement.

Can't tell you much more I'm afraid...

Enjoy your trip regardless.
