Default tv tuning

hi folks

just got an lcd tv. tuned all channels in BUT BBC2 is not a good signal - probly same as channel 5.

all other channels are ok and other tvs in the house recieve BBC2 fine. i have a 6 way signal booster fitted to the supply the whole house so i dont think it is a low signal problem

i cant understand why only 1 channel is affected

can anyone shed any light

cheers

colin

I think you need to decat the aerial and have a piggyback signal decoder fitted.

Then you'll need to remap the remote to avoid major colour splurge.

Usually this occurs to the channel with the highest frequency and is often, though not always, related to the coax getting old/wet/dodgy. It might be worth looking to see if BBC2 is the highest frequency channel and if so to think about then you changed the coax. Connections and connectors are also a problem with increasing frequency.

It may be that the problem is only seen in the one length of coax to your LCD, the others might be OK because their coax or connectors are fine. Thats my best guess for what it is worth.

If you used automatic tuning, it might be that there's a 'better' BBC 2 on another channel - you might just need to move it from where it is to the current BBC2 button. I had to do this with one of the channels (think it was BBC2 as well) when I got a new TV recently.

BBC2 is usually the worst picture if the signal is not too strong generally, Channel 4 is usually best.

Might be worth checking the coax and plug joints, especially the connection to the aerial, maybe a new cable and plugs will work wonders.

Put the new tv on a different aerial point, if bbc2 improves then their is something wrong with the cable connectors or distribution amp(crappy make). If it is still poor quality after the above, see if your next door neighbour will let him use his aerial. It is just a process of elimination, until you have narrowed the fault down, unless you have a rf spectrum analyser, then its easy.
