las vegas question...what do people think...
I have just booked flight to go to vegas on the 7th of november...im seriously considering not booking a hotel and trying to negotiate once i'm there. I arrive at 6pm so plenty of time to go round and try and get a deal.
what do you think...good or bad idea?
thanks

You could certainly negotiate for one night, but you would be doing it on a night-by-night basis. Painful.

I always get the best hotel deals online, Expedia, Opodo etc. By turning up at the hotel I've never really seen good rates. (They can also sense your desperation and tiredness )

cheers guys...i have heard that if you deposit a certain amount of money to gamble then they will do better room rates...that was my thinking...i'll be there for 9 nights so don't want same hassle every day !!

It even says if touring you still need to give an address for your first night.
You could always lie and just put MGM or luxor...who would know

Luxor is good I stayed 2 weeks in a suite in one of the towers
Only stayed one night at NYNY it was ok
Rates vary on a day to day basis in most hotels Friday and Saturday are more expensive during the week a lot less

Circus is a khazi, avoid! also Stratosphere is a dump too.
MGM, Caesers, Mandalay, Luxor, Treasure Island, Excalibur all ok.
I stayed at the Bellagio, but thought Caesers had a more relaxed atmosphere and was easier to sit down and have a beer whilst chilling.

Personally I'd book in advance as I just wouldn't want the hassle after such a long flight.
Vegas can get busy at weekends, but since 7 November is a Monday you'll have no problem getting somewhere decent. Mirage, Caesars Palace, Bellagio are all good and nice and central on the Strip.
Gary.

Yup, it's a beautiful place, stunning scenary, gardens etc, although for me Caesers Palace was just awe inspiring, particuarly for an oldish hotel, it looks like it was built yesterday.
The new daddy is the Wynn, that was a few days from opening when we left, didn't look particuarly attractive I have to say, but it was supposed to be bigger, better and more expensive than the Bellagio.

When I went I just googled for the hotels and rang them direct. I got a special rate of $49 a night for 10 days at the Flamingo this way. Nothing about the deal on the websites.

Last time I went - Stayed in the Luxor.
Booked a std room (Internet) - offered upgrade on arrival to a suite for $29 dollars a night.
Set a gambling limit of $1,000 (4 days).
On day 4 after losing approx $600 I won $1,000.
As I'd been as steady gambler for the 4 days The rooms were free, I got a load of ****e gifts and was enrolled in their hi-rollers club .
Not been back yet - It's out of my system for now .

We went to Vegas on our honeymoon as part of a bigger trip. The idea was to spend 3 nights in Vegas, then fly to Hawaii for 10 days then another night in Vegas before coming home.
Unfortunately MrsREV was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy the day before we were due to fly out of Vegas to Hawaii so we had to find more accomodation and quick for the rest of the 2 week stay. We actually ended up booking most rooms through the hotels own websites and got some really good deals (IIRC Bally's was about £15 a night). Bally's was my favourite hotel out of the several we stayed at. Circus Circus is a ****hole and was worse than the off-strip motel we were forced to spend one night in. Vegas gets very busy at the weekend.
All I can say is: 2 weeks in Vegas is a looooooonnnng time and we're in no hurry to go back!
