SidHead, Ive been to a lot of places which are a fair bit rougher, I used to live in Aston, just round the corner from Lozells, people said that was rough, never had any bother...

Doesn't prove anything - this doesn't have to turn into a "the area I know is worse than the area you know" Everywhere has bad areas.

The only consolation to the whole situation is that the more damage and destruction caused, the greater the improvements

I just feel sorry for the local law-abiding citizens caught up in it, through no fault of their own.

the problem with lozells is you get all the asian communities from Alum Rock and the carribean (sp?) communities from handsworth meeting in the middle.
but as mentioned above, all the areas are quite nice, have worked in birmingham for a bit now, visiting shops, and never had a hint of trouble from anyone.

But hey, Britains are proud of their multi-cultural society ... at least thats what the BBC keeps telling us...

Birmingham is a horrible place, and Im hardly surprised to hear about these race riots between blacks and asians there. Just hope no Police dont get caught up and seriously injured and killed.

We should always be 'celebrating' our tolerance as just look at how tolerant the new comers are. These isolated riots are just the beginning. I like the way the media are by and large neglecting to mention the fact this was a one culture / race against another culture / race riot. The BBC (propaganda machine) couldn't possibly go against the 'happy multi-cultural utopia society' government line.

I think these sort of events are more common than you would think - I remember there were running street battles between different groups of asylum seekers last year (was it Liverpool? cant remember)

Most of the time the media dont report it because its un-PC, and if they do its probably a BBC style report "there was some violence overnight between two groups of people" etc

Maybe its all a conspiracy tho - the government is allowing the massive levels of immigration to continue, knowing that sooner or later things will reach breaking point leading to mass scale civil unrest etc and they will then use that to justify extreme policies on deporting immigrants and putting more controls on what they can and cant do here.

Could be a conspiracy - it explains the reason why that despite all the concerns they are continuing to ramp up the numbers coming in!

In reality though I think they might just be too high up in their ivory towers and too immersed in their own spin to believe that it all isn't going to quite to plan. And ofcourse, they can't discuss that all might not be rosey in the garden because that would mean being 'racist' wouldn't it - even though real racism is rife amongst the immigrants themselves!

As far as widescale civil unrest in concerned. I can see this happening during the next serious economic downturn, when everybody, including these 'economic migrants' who have been given British passports, start finding jobs a bit thin on the ground. It will be when times get harder and more desperate. I wonder how far the policy of sweeping things under the carpet will get us then.

Perhaps then you will be able to raise your reservations about MASS immigration without running the risk of being branded as a racist.

it was reported that a man was stabbed to death during the riots, i wonder if he was blak or asian, the media isnt saying as it could cause an escalation.

the surrounding areas are also inhabited by blacks and asians, though asians are the majority, if they got involved then it really would become all out war!!

There is nothing to show that this supposed rape even occured or that this girl even exists. Even if it did it has nothing to do with race.

Those rioting and looting last night were just your normal criminals, they weren't otherwise upstanding members of the community. So, they took a day out to riot on Saturday than just robbing like they do week in week out.
The media as usual will stir it up some more.

Amazing how the carnage that occurs outside football games and outside pubs and clubs every Friday/Sat night, with people getting their heads kicked never gets a mention, no one starts blaming multi-culturalism and the rest then.

I love england.

I love the multi-cultural population and the effortless way we all get along so well.

I love waking up every morning and watching the news and seeing every poxy day stories about either suicide bombers, terrorism, race wars etc.

I particularly love the diversity of wonderful cities such as Birmingham.

How great it is to be in this country of respect, friendliness, standards and morals.

I'm sure Nelson would be proud of what his Great country has become.

Is there anything that shows someone was raped apart from what the news reports? its all we'll ever get to hear so you believe it or you dont... why wouldnt it have anything to do with race? theyre reporting an afro caribbean girl of 14 was seriously sexually assaulted by a group of asains, obviously this is going to spark flares in an area divided by 2 different race's....

yeah the people who was rioting are probably the average trouble causers anyhow cant deny that but its started for a reason, I dont think they all sat there and decided to have a mad party on a the same particular saturday night.....

Carnage outside football grounds? how many football games do you attend? Been reading the news papers again? the only fixture Ive ever seen trouble at is between manchester utd v manchester city and its hardly riots. simply a group of 10 people fighting each other.... Leave them too it. Most other games are very civialised. Unless off course its a big derby match with 50k people your always going to get some idiots....

Bring on the day when we don't have:

Threads on SN about ethnic issues.

News on TV about ethnic issues.

Newspaper front pages about ethnic issues.

Terrorism as a resultant of ethnic issues.

It's really beginning to **** me off. In case you couldn't tell.
