Great book - Lee Child - "Persuader"
After being completely disappointed with Dan Browns (he of the 'Da Vinci Code') books and then likewise with Michael Crightons 'State of Fear', I've just finished Lee Childs "Persuader" and gotta say its the best thing I've had the pleasure of reading for a long long time.
Its a thriller based along the lines of ex military cop Jack Reacher, who gets hired by government to sort out some gun runners. Wont say any more, but Childs is a v talented author. Plenty of twists and turns. Think Sam Fisher (splinter cell) and 24 (Jack Bauer) but a lot darker and you'll get the picture.
Would recommend this book to anyone, whos into this genre.

just ordered the next Jack Reacher novel from Amazon

I read 5 of them on holiday this year. 2 on the week in France & 3 for the week in Ireland (Bought the next 3 on my 1hr stopover in Stansted!)
I've tried to be chronological as some of the background links but I have to say that they are an absolutely excellent read & would highly recommend. They don't get "samey" as some authors do with the same hero.
(Peter F Hamilton as well is a cracking read btw)

Likewise, my favourite author. Read them all but keeping the latest one for my next holiday. He tends to write one per year. In between the Lee Child books I've started to read the Michael Connelly books. Similar style but character is a loner detective/retired detective who like to do things his own way....
Robert Ludlum stuff seems ok too.
Steering clear of Dan 'hype' Brown at the moment.

Ah yes, Harlen Coben..........with the inimitable "Myron Bolitar". Excellent. I LOL at loads of his comments. Especially when he's in the sh*t!
Robert Crais? Nope, I'll have to take a look tomorrow in Smiths.........sorry, Scunny doesn't HAVE a "proper" buookshop

Read a few of these, they are pretty good if a little samey, its a bit like the plot from the 'Littlest Hobo', i.e. wanderer turns up, rights some wrongs and then f*cks off again.

Also, if the A Team were a "crack miltary squad", how come they never hit what they are aiming at when using automatics?
