Never been so glad to see a copper. My painful experience.
tuesday was no other day.
got up, washed, dressed in jeans and tshirts and down to the motor. Started the throaty beast and went on my way to college. I was very happy with the fact I'd just put in my new gearbox, uprated o/d, ally backplate, uprated orgainc clutch and plate, GRP tunnel, modded selector and swanky new guage.
stormed into town like a hamster from heaven (taking sure my new gearbox was worn in properly). Pootling along through the traffic.
Got to lane 2 and went passed all the stationary traffic on my left.
BRAVA PULLS OUT!!!! oh no, brake! let him out and on his way.
Brava heads through amber light at which I stopped.
Then boom!
*FLASH*
fuel and temp gauge!
gearstick!
moving!
more pressure on the brake.
black!
road.
I was hit from behind by a red fiat punto.
Went through it. 2nd lane off carr house rd onto 2nd lane trafford way past the police station roundabout, 2nd lane upto traffic lights, BRAVA out, hit brakes, accelerate, lights, mirror, brake, stop, *FLASH*, 30ft from where i stopped.
Hit by some foreigner blarring away in whatever language to the passenger in the car. went up to the car and said "INSURANCE DETAILS, OUT NOW!"
wouldnt get out
"GET OUT THE ****ING CAR RIGHT NOW!"
locked the doors
coppers turned up.
I was happy/shaking/crying.
Called me old man and got him down there, and told him to get a camera*
Ambulances turned up and 3 police cars. They wanted to cart me off to hostpital, but declined.
Interviewed in a 206 (which i had to lay in as i was over 4ft 2in)
Then had t drive my wounded classic 1/2 mile to my mates palce to get picked up. Gave a ferocious tear away from the scene with blue rubber smoke from the rear psngr arch.
* All this to say, although you were unlucky, thanks for the advice of taking photos at the scene of the accidnet to lessen the chance of someone not taking responsiblity via insurance comapnies.
THANK YOU SCOOBYNETTERS AN WESTIERS.
cheers

Very annoying mate, hopefully you get everything sorted out though....... I take it that the peeps in the Punto are residents in the UK rather than holiday makers??
Cheers,

Although you were understandably more concerned at the time with the damage to your car it may have been advisable to have gone to hospital, if not via ambulance, later under your own steam.
When hit from behind, whiplash injuries are quite common and sometimes isn't until the following day before the pain & stiffness in your neck starts. Going to hospital makes sure you're properly checked out and contirbutes to any personal injury claim you may wish to make - the money you may get for this would always help towards any shortfall in insurance settlement, or pay for physio that you may need in the future.
All IMO of course - the unfortunate victim of being hit behind 3 times now over the years!!!!!!!!!!

I take it you were in some kind of shock when typing all that out. It's very difficult to make out what happened in that rambling post!

Are those the people responsible standing by the traffic lights?
reminds me of charlie sheen in scary movie 3 "Have you ever had that sinking feeling in your stomach that something bad was about to happen, sort of like when you see an Asian behind the wheel of a car?"
loads of em kept stopping and yabbering away in some foreign jive.
might get to the GP tomorrow. my arms really aching and my back too.
seriously gutted

Very scary seeing a pic of your car,
I actually followed you yesterday down cantley lane/bawtry road/carr house road on my way to work. I was only thinking what great condition the car was in, and a colour like that tends to stick in the memory.
Hope you get it looking as good again, and I hope you're ok. That pedestrian crossing btw is always having accidents.

reading all that no wonder you crashed sounds like you were braking and accelerating over a number of lanes.
If I was the other driver I'd contest it, if only for the way you acted after. OUT NOW, would be responded to with similar arrogance.

I think you'd be very pissed off too with the fact you'd just spent a thousand or so pounds on the car and 2 weeks making parts up, sorting out problems, fitting and getting dirty and greasy and tired and cold and wet and aching removing tansmission parts and installing new clutch, cover, cylinder, backplate, flyweel, gearbox, overdrive, tunnel, wiring, heaters, gauges only to have the car smashed up 9 and a half hours after finishing it.
Didnt even get a sorry out of them.
And of course there is great wonder of how I crashed. how can you not see a purple sports car with its brake lights on stationary at a set of red traffic lights?!

Now I can understand them not getting out of the car when someones shouting at them. However, PG has every right to be pi$$sed off, don't you agree? Some incompetent driver has smashed up the back of his nice car without any hint of remorse or a 'sorry'.

To balance this post a bit, yes PG I can understand you'd be thoroughly pissed off after that. You said something about a frilly CD hanging from the mirror - did you get it in photos? Might be worth pointing out to your insurance company...

I bet they aint got valid insurance either, most "minority" drivers round here just use one of a few cars which they all chip in for and use as pool cars with just one person insured. If they get pulled over they just give their name as the person insured, i think the old bill should take a photo to go with a producer cos the desk clerk they predict to won't know who was actually driving at the time
