Default Easy to use Photoshop / Publisher type program?

Easy to use Photoshop / Publisher type program?

I have been trying to use Adobe photoshop and Corel Draw but they feel like I have my hands tied behind my back anyone know of anything a but more user firendly? Something that works along the lines of Microsoft Publisher?

ie easy to drag and drop things with out having to go in to hundreds of sub menus.

Things like Corel Draw (or at least it used to be) is primarily for doing vector graphics, clipart if you like and Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and such are for messing about with photographic images or creating a raster image from scratch.

If you can give me an idea as to what you are trying to achieve I may be able to point you in the right direction.

Im actually trying to make static banners for a website, but they are all different sizes and shapes. I just want to be able to save it as a jpeg or gif.

If it has text then it may be worth doing it as a vector, Corel (again been a while since I used it) used to then allow you to export as raster (jpg, bmp etc).

But you can do it in Photo shop etc. as well

Any ideas what would be the next step down in software in terms of something a bit more easy to use, I have paint shop pro as well, still a bit high tech for me :-(

How about using "WordArt" in Word to make your fancy banners?

Easiest program I've used for website banners and buttons though is using macromedia fireworks. But Macromedia Studio does take some messing around with to figure out how to use it.

I'm on a really old version (7.04)

In short;
1) Create a canvass the size you want
2) Choose the shape tool
3) Create a rectangle that fills the canvass
4) Choose the selection tool and double click on the rectangle
5) Choose Fill options and gradients to suit
6) Flatten the image
7) Choose the text tool and click on screen
8) Enter text and choose fonts, colours, gradients etc
9) Once done, flatten again and then choose effects and "Butonize"
10) Save as jpeg / gif

If you have Front Page you can use that - but that gets a bit messy as you'd have to publish the page and then rip the FP Extensions generated image off with a browser.

If you rummage on google you may find pre-made banner templates for PSP or PS with the layers retained so all you need to modify is the text.

Stick with photoshop, once you master it you'll never need another program.
