Default Good Employment Lawyers

Hi,

Further to my previous thread regarding my manager being difficult at work, I've now had a "Compromise Agreement" sent to me by the company's solicitor. They've basically made me redundant and agreed a sum to cover my loss of earnings til the end of Oct. I need a solicitor to check and sign it and was wondering if anyone knew of any hot shot lawyers who specialise in employement? Company are paying so doesn't matter about the cost.

Thanks

I live in Southampton but could easily get to London. Used to work in Sheffield and my boyfriend lives in Newcastle so either of those is a possibility as well

I'm in Essex but try here

Shoosmiths or Beachcroft Wansboroughs are the BIG names in Southampton but are Defendant firms and may charge you more than the employers have told you you can spend.

you have been unlucky haven't you!

I don't think you really need a hot shot lawyer for checking over a Compromise Agreement - they'll have fees to match which will probably be more than the company is willing to pay.
As long as the salient points are covered - my agreement had statements such as I had been compensated for x and y when they hadn't actually done so at all so my solicitor spent quite a while in correspondance with them.
Strictly speaking, I managed to go over the amount allocated by the company however I did manage to get them to pay all the costs since they had been incurred due to the amount of time spent chasing them up for their replies (extremely slowing in coming).
Good luck, I hope you get what's fair for you under the crappy circumstances and that you find a much better job all round. I was lucky, I did.

I was in the same position with a compromise agreement. Basically, the company cannot legally make you redundant so they are buying back your contract of employment from you.

Make sure you get a decent amount of compensation, you can negotiate if you think the amount is too low because your company is in a weak position. I eventually managed to get 2.5x their initial offer. PM me if you want to see how I calculated the figures I use to negotiate.

I used a lawyer from Richmond provided by my company - he charged £400 to read through the CA & explain the legal stuff to me, less than a hour's work I guess but this was all paid for by the company.

Princessyin - your PM mailbox is full so I can't reply!

If you PM me your email address I'll send you the doc I used to calculate my figures based on benefits etc. It should give you an idea as to what you can throw into the pot
