Red face Are the good times over for the West?...

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/busin...577521,00.html

We take it for granted that our economies are almost always growing, we have good living standards and we can buy loads of cheap products made by poor people in developing countries, but sounds like things might be changing...

With these 'developing' countries now starting to see improved living standards etc, the cheap products are starting to become less cheap, and they are starting to take away 'service' jobs from our countries. Ie for computer software, why should our programmers be paid 10 times the amount of those in China or India, when they do exactly the same?

Do people reckon this is this just scare-mongering, or really starting to happen?

I dont think its scare-mongering, but from a UK point of view its also open to abuse, I know of one company who's sub contractors are paid £250 a day in a high risk enviroment, have just lost the contract to a group of polish workers who are paid £50 a day and they are happy as a pig in ****, also look at how many french workers come to the UK on 10 week work experience, all paid for by the french goverment? The problem isnt other countries, but other countries taking the advantages, our UK trading and jobs worths complaining about work and work surroundings, other workers from other countries taking advantage of this too, you only have to look at rover in the 70's drop a mug of tea and out on stike, the writing was on the wall years ago, thats why we are now up **** street, thats not counting the male Illegal immigrants who's sole job in life is to find a british Girl, Tell he loves her, gets her pregnant with the sole basis of staying in the UK, Everone knows this goes on what's being done about it? you have 30% of new builds going to Housing associations, who most of the time are glorified council tenants, there is nothing wrong with that, but quite a few areas troubled familys are moved in for one reason or another, dropping the house prices of the surrounding area by as much a 35% sooner or later things will worse, you only have to look at the retail sales for the last quarter..

I agree with this. There are going to be some very marked changes over the next couple of decades...
