Watch out for High winds, earthquakes and mad presidents. Otherwise, have a nice trip.

You're just minutes from the Crazies of Venice Beach! Hire a pushbike and pedal along the boardwalk down to Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo beaches. All really nice, and if you're up early at daybreak (the light's beautiful), get some pics of the boogie boarders.

Oh, then there's the ladies beach volleyball, but I can't see anyone on this forum being interested in that...

Santa Monica is really nice!

Wasn't that keen on the rest of LA, although Beverly Hills is worth a look.

Hey, this is sounding good. I like the idea of ladies beach volleyball.

Business trip unfortunately but I should have Sunday to myself so I might well try the bike hire along the broad walk idea. Sounds cool.

Now then, lets google up some of these names...

If you do take the bike, the first half hour will be pedalling around the Marina and past the airport, but it get's nice after...

... And if you go the other way up to Santa Monica there's plenty of knocker-watching opportunities that way too.

Yea, been looking on the map. Seems a fair distance south to Redondo. Still I'm a keen cyclist and it will be a good tan topping up opportunity hopefully.

Have you got a name or location for the bike hire place?

Cheers

Nothing specific - there'll be half a dozen within 10 mins walk of the hotel (towards the beach), same goes for skate hire places if you really want the Inept-Englishman-Abroad look.

It's all easy cycling - from Santa Monica to Redondo and back must be 30 miles or so of easy level pedalling

30 miles!! That'll be a good day out. I'm actually based a Marina Del Ray so I could go north or south from there. Which would you recommend?

Santa Monica's only a half hour or so walk North, so on a bike I'd say South. You'll be surprised how easy it is to do both ways

Cool

Yep, it's all shaping up quite nicely. Sunday morning I'll be hitting Venice Beach on my bike heading for Redondo...

Cheers

Hermosa beach in southern L.A , is a great place to visit to see a typical Californian beach resort- some good bars, sexy women, good beach and nice chilled-out atmosphere. Your see some great cars/ s.u.vs in LA as well- grab a copy of there Autotrader equivilent and see how cheap they go for compared to here!

San Diego is good too. If you get a chance watch the sky divers jumping off a sheer cliff, makes your stomach sink watching that!
