Thumbs up Goodwood Revival

When to the Goodwood Revival meeting on Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed it, but the best bits were watching a pair of Spitfire Mk9s perform over the runway. Later we had some P51s, B17 Flying Fortress and the Battle of Britan Mermorial flight. All those Merlin engines... mmmmm...

The racing itself was impressive, consicering the cars were unique. There was some pretty close calls and you could see the drivers were really going for it. GT40s, GTOs, and those Bookland racing cars were great to watch.

Recomended for next year and may even make an effort to dress the part. I felt a bit out of place in jeans and shirt...

Love the FOS but never fancied this one - on the whole were the cars pre 60s etc or a bit more recent?

I was there running the McLaren M1B driven by Nick Whale that raced in the Whitsun Trophy against the GT40's, Nick finished 4th after being upto 2nd at one point. These are serious race cars running on period spec tyres, so have masses of power compared to grip, which makes them spectacular to watch.

The whole weekend was superb, if you get the chance it's well worth the entrance fee, getting dressed up in period gear is good fun too.

I thought it was the best all round race meeting I have ever attended. There were cars in the paddock going back to Brooklands days, even the ones with aircraft engines!

Laurel and Hardy driving around the paddock were good too, I was waiting for the doors to fly off

There was some outstanding driving going on, I enjoyed watching Tiff Needell and also the bikes.

You forget theat there is not other crimes being commmitted other than motorists speeding and that it has to be stopped before we are all killed or injured, also Labour need the revinue!

Perhaps it would be more productive from a safety POV to concentrate on a few chav estates and knick joyriders, car thieves and people without ins, tax, etc. But, then again these people never ever cause accidents do they
Nor do they have the ability or inclination to pay fines so no money in it.

Now i wonder why they where at Goodwood.

Went a few years back and it was really good - great 'Olde World' atmosphere!

Great air display too by some spitfires and P51's.

I think the Festival of Speed is better tho, but maybe you cant really compare them. Couldnt believe this years FofS had a 747 jumbo doing a low-level air-display - just didnt look safe!!!
