Cool Top Gun at the cinema!!

Just got back from watching Top Gun at http://www.therexcinema.com there needs to be more cinemas like this, proper old school style with modern equipment. I sat at one of their tables near the bar!

The planes on their surround sound system sounded amazing, forgotton just how cheesy the film itself is though

Roll on 'back to the future' next month!

Would recommend this place to anyone who is in Herts area its worth a bit of a trip

Damn good idea - Top Gun certainly is a classic, and Back to the Future is another brilliant film!

I wish my local cinema did that - films like Terminator 2, Predator etc must look amazing on the big-screen!

Thumbs up

Oh **** it!!!! :

They showed it last month too but I couldn't make it. I was soooo excited when I saw they were repeating it today but I sodding well forgot all about it.

The Rex itself is by far the best cinema I've ever been to.

The first time I went I booked a table for the 4 of us to see House of Flying Daggers, like yours this table was right by the bar. The seats are fantastic, so much room and booze and snacks a plenty. The problem lies in that as the tables have to be set out on the flat you can't see the bottom foot or so of the screen . . . . . . . . . . . . yep, that'll be where they put the subtitles.

Solution: 2 more bottles of Pinot, kick back and watch the stunning visuals.

Have been several times since, even the 'normal seats' at the back are very special.

I've heard rumblings that the food is vegetarian but I'm not sure.

I've only ever had cheese, biscuits and various wines

I haven't eaten there before either, but cheese. buscuits and wine seems to be the best way to accompany a film

I remember going there when I was a kid and its been shut since 1987 i think it was always an eye sore on the highstreet so its great to see it so tastefully restored and always seems to be busy on the mainstreem films

It looks like they are recording a 'dead ringers' radio show there as well but its sold out unfortunately

Yeah, I went there as a kid too. Up the proper stairs that are now a feature in Brookes Bar below.

Watching Condorman with my dad was a highlight.

You've got me. I didn't even know about the bingo.

I'm only 3 years older than you so it's all a big blur to me too.

Blimey that's taken me back years! I used to live in Berkhamsted and regularly went to the Rex every week. The inside doesn't seem to have changed all that much
