Default Petrol Stations

On my travels all over the country i seem to come across recently closed petrol stations be it previously private or a big company.

So with this petrol crisis pish, i felt that well it could be a good venture to snap a few of them up & put them back in business.

Do you think it would take much to get them back up & running ?

What do the previous owners leave ? as in are the tanks still there ?

I do know that the shops are usually stripped out of anything good & the pumps have been removed.

So what do you reckon ??

Actually, don't they remove them as well? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the tanks have to be changed regularly (5 years or so) which is part oft he reason you see petrol stations getting updated so regularly.

I doubt very much they have to change them that rgularly - i have never seen a tank changed at my local stations in the last 10-15years.

The cost of removing them isn't as much as people think. A client of mine recently bought a filling station got a local landowner/farmer to take the tanks out free of charge as he wanted them to store sileage/muck.

Then got a certicficate off council after a survey showed no contamination......thats how its done in the country though

There's an old Texaco near work that's having the tank removed right now. There's a massive crater; I wouldn't have thought it be cost effective in most cases to remove it.
