Default Commuting on the M6

Does anyone use the M6 everyday, looking at getting a job on the outskirts or Birmingham but may mean a 50min drive down the M6, prob shift work tho.

How bad is it.

Which Junction going down? You were looking Crewe, Nantwich etc weren't you? Which would means J16 or higher.

J10 down to J8 was common for being solid when I've gone that way. I'd try to be past Hilton Park Services (just before J10A when heading south) by 7.30am at the latest although I have a different route to the M42 these days so avoid it weekday mornings.

I used to commute from J21 down to J16 every day and I can honestly say that the stress and the rage I used to suffer made my life a misery. I've not only seen some of the worst driving in the world on the M6, I've comitted some of the worse driving through sheer frustration. Never again.

Have gone from the M54 (10A) junction to Junction 4A more times than I care to think about, this stretch will take on average 45 mins of frustrating driving. Left my last job due to the journey. Cost of fuel and time meant I was better off getting a job closer to home. Best of luck.

Agree with Andy, I do this stretch quite often, (as I live right next to M54 10A) and it's complete chaos. I make sure I am on at J10A by 6:20am. Otherwise it really, really does take the mickey. If your plannning on shift work, you might be ok outside of rush hours, but this really is a busy stretch.

I live near to Coventry and only use the M6 if I have to. Utter utter madness and constant jams/slow moving traffic plus the level of driving is something off a 'Chuckle Brothers' episode

Rather you than me
