Wink Is there a planned fuel strike?

Not wanting to be involved in the "dont use ESSO so they make petrol cheaper" brigade, i am solely interested if there is a planned blockade or anything

I'm planning panic buying either, i couldn't find anything on BBC website

Thanks

Ray

The group says all UK refineries will be blocked from 0600 BST on 14 September unless price cuts are made.

Isn't it illegal to store petrol in large quantities?

Well looking at the protesters website they made exactly the same announcement in April, and it came to nothing. Mr Spence just likes to threaten a strike now and again to create a bit of panic buying and to keep his name in the media.

I notice that the media seems to have dropped the story, guess they reliase how credible Mr Spence really is.

The Governments response will only fan the flames: 'lowering tax wont affect the price of oil...'. No **** Sherlock! The massive amount of duty (with VAT on top) just twists the knife when we have crude prices at a record high. Before someone mentions the 'tax-take'; the state generates enough extra revenue from the inflated price of North Sea oil to offset a lowering of duties.... But theyre using that to put off further (snide) tax rises, like the addition of VAT onto books, safety wear and chldrens clothes..........
