Cat and Fiddle...Derbyshire...for Northeners eyes only
Came home this way today, what a mint stretch of road this is , never been on it before, its like pike's peak but downhill!
Also a good blast was the stretch to it between the roundabout at chatsworth, and the A6 into Buxton..racetrack flat A619 I think.
Got into Mac, and the brakes on the van stunk like the clappers..I'll go that way home again, puts another 30 mins on the journey, but it's only work

Loads of unmarked police cars/bikes plus helicopters and angry farmers tipping drums of diesel on the corners.
There used to be hordes of bikers up here in the 90's now seem to have buggered off in there droves!

It would be the worst road in Derbyshire, but it's not in Derbyshire, thank ****!
Shellgrip on corners, lots of low cloud, abismal weather, stray sheep, Plod vans, helicopters, what more do you want?

If you want a good road, try turning left when the road forks away to Congleton that'll tell you whether you've got proper brakes, or enough suspension travel

Snake is OK if you do it at 6am or on a weekday evening in winter, otherwise it's far too crowded.
There are plenty of decent roads up there, Whalley Bridge-Buxton is still one of my favourites

Still plenty of bikes up the Cat & Fiddle on a sunny weekend. Hint -- plod usually only comes out to play on a Sunday. Saturday is quieter traffic and usually hazard-free.
Like Charlie Whiskey says, from Macc to Buxton on the Cat & Fiddle, then Buxton to Whaley Bridge. Great for a weekend blast
Edited to add -- Congleton road ... **** me, that is scary if you do it Buxton -Congleton
My 70s Suzi triple does NOT like that road. Do you know what wallowing, weaving, head-shaking and brake fade is? I bloody did after going down there once ....

Cat & Fiddle all depends on when you go on it, Mid week usually noting on ot and no police, personally I think it is a superb road. As CW says Buxton to Whaley (Long Hill) is the best, and I have to drive it everyday to and from work
Its is killing me that my car is ill at the minute! so no fun this week!

That road scares me, too many sheer drops off the edge - once cycled from the bottom of Buxton Road in Macclesfield up to the Cat n Fiddle for a time trial when I was 16
