Apparantly it is a true story.
This is for the benefit of those of you who didn't see it. READ IT! It's a really ****ed up story...
There is a 16yr old boy called mark, who doesn't do too well at school but likes his sport. He starts going on internet chat rooms, a Manchester City one in particular. He slowly becomes more and more obsessed and starts spending stupid amounts of time on the chat room. What makes it worse is he meets a girl called Rachel, and they start engaging in an 'online relationship'. Rachel then introduces Mark to a 14yr boy called John (online). The three of them become best online buddies, with Mark and Rachel getting completely obsessed with one another. They try meeting up on a few occasions but something always went wrong.
John at this stage was using the internet 12 hours a day. Then, another character comes into play, a guy called Kevin. Kevin constantly goes on about he is a hardcore stalker (his real name wasn't Mole ). Not only is he a stalker but he is a gay with a foot fetish. At first no-one else on the website believes him but in the end he convinces all of them, and says he will prove it By this point, Mark was head-over-heels for Rachel and was staying up all night talking to her. Then, one day Rachel stops logging on. Kevin appears on the website and tells Mark that he has kidnapped her, and will rape and murder her if Mark didn't ********** while showing his feet on the webcam. Worried out of his mind, Mark obliged. Kevin tells Mark that he has released her, but a few days later he reveals that he did indeed rape and kill her. Other people on the chatroom backed up his story.
Mark was naturally devastated but his best mate John supported him and their friendship became even more intense. A few weeks later, another mysterious character logged in, going by the name of Janet Robinson. She told mark she was a 44yr old married woman, but very attractive. She also told him she worked for the British Secret Service, and had logged on in order to recruit mark. Over the following weeks, she conviced mark that she was telling the truth and the the country really needed his help. For this he would be repayed with money, excitement and sexual favours. She tells mark that his first 'mission' is to be a bodyguard for a highly important person. Coincidentally, this person also lived in Manchester and even more coincidentally, was his friend John.
His first mission was to extract him from his school on a partcilular day. He went to John's school and told them that John had a dentist appointment. For his next mission, he had to make out that John was gay, and had to perform oral sex on him. She told him that he was under constant surveillance from her 'team' and would be completely safe, and rewarded accordingly. This went on for weeks with Janet setting mark these missions which were becoming increasingly stranger. The final mission was simple. Stab John - he was a threat to national security. She told him to meet up with John, go to the local shopping centre, buy a kitchen knife, and on the way back, take him to a particular alleyway and stab him. She told him where the CCTV cameras, and how to avoid them. She also told him that as soon as he had completed the mission, her team would come in and pick him up and vindicate him from all responsibilty, as well as rewarding him with £80 million. She also gave him and abort code - 6969. If anyone was to say this to him on the day, then the mission was to be aborted.
Mark stabbed his best friend in the alleyway, waited 20 minutes with John bleeding to death in the alleyway, and called the police. He told them that a crazed knifeman had killed John. It wasn't until three weeks later that the police could prove there was no knifeman, and Mark confessed, telling them the whole story. He seemed to genuinely believe that Janet would come and 'rescue' him.
The police seized Marks computer and began to analyse the chatroom conversations. After weeks of trawling through the conversations, they came to the conclusion that Rachel, Kevin and Janet were all the same person. The reason for this was because all three characters occassionaly spelt the word 'maybe' as 'mybye'
They realised a short time that one other character did this also: John.
When confronted with the evidence, John, who had been in intensive care for weeks, confessed. He had created and maintained the chat room, and had 193 online aliases.
He ordered Mark to stab him and was so obsessed with his fictional story he couldn't bring himself to end it prematurely by saying the abort code...
The case was unprecedented. They were not even sure if inciting one's own murder is even a crime! Eventually, they both avoided custodal sentences, but got banned from using the intenet for a very long time
So, who has multiple accounts on scoobynet then?
