Do I need to go to court?
Hello people,
I have had a summons throught the post this morning due to me speeding on the M4. I was doing 99mph.
Now, I am in no way wanting to get off or anything like that because I accept the fact that I was in wrong.I would just like some advice from someone who has been in a similar situation to me having never had to go to court for speeding before.
I am going to plead guilty, and would like to know if it makes any difference to the outcome or not as to wether I turn up to court in person or plead guilty by post. The court is in Cardiff which is a fair way from me and would involve a day off work.
Anyone have any advice?
Also, I currently have a clean licence and would like to know what sort of fine/point tally to expect.
Thanks.

You can plead guilty by post...HOWEVER....given the relatively high speed, the magistrates MAY wish to disqualify you, in which case they would adjourn for x weeks to allow you to attend with a view to getting disqualified.

I got caught at 99 on a motorway up blackpool and i live in london. sent the ticket off and paid the 60 quid, then got a summons, rang up and said id already paid, it was their mess up. got a fine anyway because they fcuked up again, which i rang up and it was removed. that was 300 quid so im assuming it will be in that region.
never bothered goin to court, way to far to go
