Selling a number plate - Help reqd
Hi,
I am just in the process of selling my private plate, does anyone know what the process is?
Do I need to get some sort of form from DVLA or is the retention certificate good enough.

You'll need to put it on retention if you don't have a buyer. You then advertise it and once the buyer has paid you, you can assign the plate to him/her. They are then able to use the plate on their car. It takes about 4 weeks to get the plate assigned and the document will come back to you for you to then post onto the buyer.
Remember to add the £105 fee for transfer etc into the selling price!
