Ahh can't beat a bit of forward planning. Remember you need to suck up to the bride (you may get your leg over) and humiliate the groom.

To the Bride - "Put your hand on the table"
To the Groom - "Put your hand on top of your wife hand"
To the Guests - "That will be the last time he ever has the upper hand"

The joke I had planned to tell, was the one about the two Islamic women trying on rucksacks in a camping shop?
But I showed the missus my speech and she didn't think I should tell it

A sensible reply:
http://hitched.co.uk/speeches/exampl...est.asp?type=1
I used this website recently for my Groom's speech and I thought it went well. Better than my best man's IMHO which he made up as he went along (after a few beers)!!

another vote for hitched site - I was best man last sat and it helped loads.
Best advice is don't get too pissed beforehand and enjoy it! - sounds difficult on both parts but I really don't like public speeking - still enjoyed my speech though!

Remember everyone has had a few drinks esp by the time you get to your go so will laugh at anything vaguely funny!
get a bit of an idea about what the groom and father of the bride are saying so that you don't end up with the same stories
If you are following a traditional set of speeches then the groom will thank you and the bridesmaids - so in turn you should thank him for what he said
The problem I had was cutting it down as I could have said so much!
Avoid too many of the cheesy jokes off hitched and get a few stories in that everyone will find funny not just a few people
If you are stuck then I can email you mine - I am sure there are better but it got a few laughs! Or if you want someone to read yours then let me know
Good luck!

I had to do a speach a while ago when I gave my sister away.
Felt really really nervous about it. All my family were there. Felt quite emotional to be honest as it meant alot.
I've also been a best man and that was so much easier than giving my sister away.
All I can say is just be honest and don't try to be too funny and always going for the laughs.
Good luck with it mate!
Cheers,
Rich

Cheers guys
Andy, thanks for the offer, not yet finalised the speech yet though.
I know what you mean about repeating the groom and brides father, but wasn't sure if they were giving their speaches before mine or not?
Will find out this evening cause we are at the church for a rehearsal, wasn't sure if I was supposed to go or not, but thought I would volunteer

Phew! Glad its over now, but went quite well got a few laughs.
Wasn't too nervous building up to my speech, I could see how nervous the groom was when giving his, so made me feel even better
