Well me old man is 80 this week coming up, any ideas of something novel I could get him?
Beraing in mind his hobby (which takes up most of his life) is betting on the nags!

Depends on how wealthy you and he are.
If it's just a token pressie cos he is 80 how about 80 pound coins, wrapped up/ displayed in some special way so he has them to remember/spend on what he wants.

Here we are, a sensible one, how about taking him out for the day, to the place's he grew up, and trying to visit some of his favourite places from the past.

I bought my father in law a newspaper from the day her turned 21 for his 60th birthday. Didn't see any point getting one from the year he was born cos he wouldn't remember anything from it, but he loved this one I got

I can Sympathise with you my dads the same which makes him hard to buy for.
Does he have sky tv? I know one of the racing channels is a subscription one,if you got him that he wouldnt miss a race.Or does he have a favourite racehorse(Red-Rum,Shergar etc.),You could maybe get him a nice framed print.Check out horse racing memorabilia on E- Bay! If he is fit enough why not take him out to a day at the races,i'm not a huge racing fan myself but its still a good day out.
If you are really flush then you could get him a share of a horse ,but this can go into serious dosh!!

Thanks Colin, he's not much of a drinker really, any Beds meets coming up anyway aitn been for ages? (mind you havent ha da scoob for a year now either!)
TT - yep he's already got shares in a horse so no point getting another he cant walk too far otherwise a day at the races would have been ideal.
