looks a bit like an XBox 360 design that was rejected.

No SCART or Component sockets on it - HDMI or DVI only aparently...

Hmmm don't like the idea of that, first thing I do when I buy AV stuff is check what plugs on the back (never can have too many ). No components could rules out surround AV setups (or older ones), usage of standard VCR , and old DVD/HD recorders with no DV input, and video senders (although sky might want you to make the latter un-useable so they can get another £10 a month off you )

Also this anti-piracy thingy sounds a bit suss too

Still, I suppose we can't drag on using old technology can we? Lets just hope it doesn't crash every few days when it is launched (like the first didgiboxes did )

Yeah, I know some of the lads working on the HDTV stuff @ Sky. They're worried (for obvious reasons) about recording programmes, so hence why they're sticking with HDMI.

Thicko question alert!

Does the HDMI socket / cable / thingy carry the audio signal? I'm also assuming this thing as digital audio out capability.

I was reading in a mag that the first batch of Sky HDTV boxes were going to have scart/component out which would get round the copy protection. They said they would do it as a lot of people who have bought lage plasmas etc might not have HDMI. It also said they wouldn't do it for long though.
