Have I been let off for speeding?
Just wanted to know the general concensus on this.
I got caught speeding on June 24th doing 51 in a 30. I was pulled over and breathalised (no alcohol) and had a good chat with the policeman. He said that I was too far over the speed limit for a fixed penalty and I would get a summons for court. We got on quite well and he saud that I wasn't the type of person he was looking for, but I was speeding so....At the end of our chat he said I better slow down or I would lose my license (I told him I had 6 points already), and he gave me a piece of paper asking me to go to the police station with MOT and insurance details etc.
Today it's the 28th July, so 5 weeks have passed, but no summons. Have I been let off. What is the normal processing time?BTW, it was a Bristol cop.
Before you say 'they have to get a ticket to me in 14 days', I have found out that they must give me NITP (notice of intention to prosecute) within 4 weeks, but verbal notice, as I received in the back of the cop car is valid. They have 6 months to get a summons to me.
So I know that I might still get a summons, just thought they would have done it in less than 5 weeks. What do you think?

When I was talking to the cop I told him I was moving house in 2 months so I should give him my new address. He said that this would be sorted within 2 months and for me to give him my current address.

Hi,
i got caught on Jan 5th. My NIP came through late April, summoned for May 17th.
I got 5 points, and £150 for 97mph on the M1 at 11pm with no other cars in sight and a clean license, AND a student who could not afford that kind of money.
The f*cking racist, agest c*nts.

My friends son had an accident at the end of last year that was suspected to have been a result of racing on the highway, the summons turned up the other week 7 and a half months after the incident As long as the CPS present it to the court in 6 months then you'll get a summons it seems

It will hit your mat around September time if he/she can be bothered to submit the process file or not....depends if they get a decent posting before then and dont have time to do it fingers crossed mate
Were you cautioned? "You do not have to say anything....."and did he say "I am reporting you with the intention for the consideration of prosecution..." or words to that effect? on your HORT/1 (producer, 7 day wonder) did you have a box ticked saying "Reported"?

With an attitude like that i'm suprised you didn't get locked up you tool!
Why racist?
Why agest?
WTF has being a student got to do with anything?
5 points and 150 is cheap, i got 250 and 6 points for 72 in a 50, on a sunday moring at 04.30am with no-one else around on the m6 during roadworks. Suprisingly i don't think it was agest or racist, but then again i realise it was my own fault and am mature enogh to accepth the punishment.
Grow up child!

If you had a verbal warning of possible prosecution then the NIP is unecessary.
Kammy,
Time you realised that if you break the rules you leave yourself wide open for prosecution. Just one of the things to expect in a civilised society. You should consider yourself lucky that you got off as lightly as you did. With your attitude you just don't deserve to be allowed on the public roads anyway!

The 14 day rule is for a NIP. If you have been verbally notified when you got pulled then that classes as your NIP. A summons will be sent when the court has time. My court date was almost 6 months after I got flashes.

Cool. I think I may have gone through a camera back in May but so far have not received anything through the post.
Does this mean that I am now in the clear?

My summons took ages I got stopped on 2nd August and received my summons a week before I was due in Court on 6th November.
I came out with 6 points and £220 fine, plus £60 court costs. Add to that £240 for a Solicitor cos I was convinced I was going to get banned so wanted the best chance possible of not losing my licence.
103mph on the A50 - Yes I was an idiot, and yes I have learned from it
