usenet used to be good for **** years ago, these days its ****. much better free sites around.....apparently 
It's actually for some car maintenance groups, i know a guy posts there that is very helpful

OK, have a look here for free servers
Also, don't forget that Google has Google Groups, which will allow you to read newsgroups, and maybe even post on them (not sure), so that might be a good bet too.
