Cheers Nick, luckily I was up and away before the bloke in the vid did a faceplant, bit of blood, five stitches and a big bump on his head, but he's OK. Could have been a bit off putting

First questions normally are:
Do I need a licence and insurance? No you don't, but please get some training. All that's needed to legally fly are a Compass, Altimeter and a Map.
Do you need a hill to take off? Nope, just a field with permission.
How much? 2-4k second hand, 4-6k new.
How fast? Up to 60KPH on a still wind day, much more downwind.
How high can you go? Keep going 'till you run out of fuel or die.
How long can you fly for? 3 hours average.

Did you do paragliding before upgrading to the motor ?
good place to learn : http://www.airsports.co.uk/
Always thought you needed to take the Elementary or club pilot courses

I've done and still do a little Dan, but certainly not qualified. Ground handling the wing was a huge part of the training, getting lofted or dragged with a spinning propeller on your back wouldn't be pleasant.
I trained towards a BMAA licence here http://www.paramotorschool.com

Hey Jack, it may have taken a few years since my last post on the subject but I have done the 1st day towards my BMAA license.....I hope I get my wings before the summer I'm doing it with the Lemmings in Tunbridge Wells, nice guys there. I thought I'd invest money in training as I don't fancy losing limbs in the prop which seems a popular outcome when self trained.

I'm a fully fledged Lemming! The video above features Pete I think.
Here's a more polished take off http://www.californear.com/video/sheepcote2.mpg
Scott, go to Lemmings and ask about training, someone there will help.
Loads of Paramotor and Paragliding pictures here http://web.mac.com/aylesbury
I qualified as a paraglider pilot since the last posts, Paramotoring first certainly accelerated things.

I tried wireless security surveys but couldn't find an aerial that worked very well. Anyhow, I'm no longer chasing online threats for a living, retirement comes to us all eventually.

Good work Dan, and a cracking choice of equipment. We'll get a flight in together some time no doubt, it's a very small community.

I won't make the NATS as I have a baby due anytime, however I have had a couple of "cold" flights this year, took this inversion sunset photo from 3500ft a few weeks ago.

Nice one Dan! I've been concentrating on my Paragliding lately, just finished 2 weeks flying with Condors in Argentina, stunning!!
Picasa Web Albums - Jack - Mexico and Ar...
Back to England in a week or so, then crack on with the Paramotor if the weather's warmed up, can't say that I'm too happy flying in the cold.

Wow, first time I've ever seen this, you guys have got some *****! It does look like you have more directional control than I'd imagne. I think I'd need a big (huge) open space before you get the everglades boat fan strapped to my back! Great stuff.

Thanks Dan, that shot was the start of a cracking days flying, I shared thermals with Condors for the first time and even had one grab the top surface of my wing!
I saw a lot of the WRC service park, but that's not unusual right now.
