Moses mate, have you actually had much to do with the elderly? Apart from family, that is?

Now I'm not condoning what that programme showed, but I DO know quite a few people who work with the elderly, and believe me when I say that old people can be FAR FAR worse than kids: petulant, demanding, rude, aggressive, obscene, and think the sun shines out of them and that the world owes them a living. What they want, they want yesterday, and woe betide anyone who doesn't treat THEM with respect, but they can treat anyone however they please because they are old.

Many, many people who go to work with them only last a few years because they can be THE WORST group of people to work with.

I didn't see the programme, so can't comment on the conduct of the nurses in question, but I wouldn't be suprised that they used some journalistic licence to only show the nurses in a bad light, i.e. not showing the previous 8 hours of abuse thrown at them by some cantankerous old bugger, just the 8 seconds of the nurse being rather robust with them.

As someone who has seen people die of Alzheimers, I do know that sufferers of it are extremely difficult to care for. You need the patience of a saint and massive reserves of restraint, on top of all the other qualities that a nurse requires.

How about putting money into proper training and then paying proper money to people who look after the elderly!! Don't threaten to *kill* them just because you've seen one side of the story on the television

It certainly made you watch the programme...now do something about it and make sure you campaign for qualified staff to care for our old folk...stop bleating on about ******** 4 wives on the same thread as *caring about the elderly*
