Anyone been to Monaco before?
Will be stopping off at Monaco for a couple of nights with mates on a roadtrip later this year - anyone on here been before? Any good?
Is everywhere stupidly expensive, or are there normal-ish priced places to eat? Any decent bars and clubs for the evenings, or are these all silly prices?!
Also whats parking like there?!

You want to stay at the Hôtel Hermitage - on the left up the hill out of the harbour. Cracking service. Just a bit on the pricey side .... went there many moons ago, walked in in my dirty jeans and tee-shirt. Was ignored unti, I said I wanted a room ....
You'll be amazed at the amount of money awash in the place!
Enjoy!

I spent an hour in the Grand Casino in Monte Carlo. It cost a £5.00 to get in for a "Visitor Pass" whilst on a Med Cruise. Dunno if they charge if you are going in with a "wedge" All I will say is that there were Omar Sharif lookalikes chucking 5000 Franc chips on the roulette table like they were 10p pieces. (Few years back though)

Monaco is a fantastic place.
The "must do's" are (mostly already mentioned) :
- casino : even just casino square (if there's less than $2 million worth of cars parked outside then its either 4 in the morning, or something has gone seriously wrong! ).
- the gp circuit.. you can drive the majority of it, or all of it most of the time (have to go the otherway round the roundabout in casino square unfortunately)
- the harbour is spectacular any time of year.
- If you're flying into nice, and don't have a hire car, get the helicopter transfer from nice to monaco.. not a lot of money for the experience.
- stars and bars has a great atmosphere and is where most of the big names hang out.. although I have a feeling they may have closed the night club??
- go for dinner at hotel de paris.. the most fabulous place.. but a night's stay there will cost you your annual fuel bill, so dinner is probably the most you'll want to experience
- have a good walk around the back of the casino (on the water side).. superb views, etc.
- there is also a tiny cafe not far from casino square (can't remember the name - standing at the casino facing casino square.. walk straight ahead, and hug the buildings to the left.. walk across one road, then up a steep slope (next to WRC Rally HQ on your left).. through the park and turn left at the top.. on the next block on the right hand side).. you'll find the best coffee in the whole of france and italy.
All in all, the atmosphere and ambiance of the place is just stunning, and if you're into just soaking it all up, you'll have a great time.
Cheers
