Now they've banned mushrooms!!!
More ninny nannying stupid New Labour legislation. This time it's the harmless fun enjoyed by the magic mushroom takers that comes under the brutal heel of the New Labour loonies jack boot.
Mushrooms are now classified as a Class A drug along with Crack and Heroin. What the hell use is this crappy law?? PC tosspots!!

******* NL muppets, as if shrooms are as dangerous, addictive or socially ruinous as crack cocaine and heroine.
This will no doubt keep the hysterical "Please think of the children" Daily Mail readers happy

harmless fun
Agree that 30-40 in some mushy tea will just give you the giggles etc but 200-300 can have some less than harmless effects.

The biggest problem, unlike canabis, opium poppies and other plants that produce chemicals that have psychotropic effects is that these mushrooms do grow wild in this country. So how do you prove that a few mushrooms in somebody's garden are cultivated rather than natural?
I suspect it will be added to the pile of un-policeable new laws that NL have brought in.

As for the insult (which you have since deleted). what makes you so sure I no nothing about magic mushrooms? I've had my share, trust me, not that I bother any more. Sounds as though you should shut up about things you seem to know f**k all about not me - i.e. the hard won rights and freedoms of the members of a supposedly democratic society, Freedoms that are being rapidly eroded by the current government.

How much crime is a result of people stealing to pay for their mushroom habit?
How long before some poor old dear gets life for cultivation/possession of a class A drug (that was growing naturally in her garden)?

This caught my eye:
"folklore gives clues that Britons have been well aware of the hallucinogenic properties of plants for centuries, including both the small brown Liberty Cap (Psilocybe semilanceata) and the red and white, and more toxic, Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria)."
The red and white, and more toxic, Fly Agaric of course, remains perfectly legal.
Go figure.....

They should ban alchohol far sooner than mushrooms. There's more deaths and accidents from alchohol than most of the drugs out there.
But of course, we don't have a multi-million pound magic mushrooms industry
