Cheapish Mountain Bike
I know a few of you are seriously into mtb and will poo-poo 'lesser/budget' bikes.....but.....
what do you think of the spec of this bike im looking at getting. Im not into downhilling etc, just want a decentish bike for road and lanes usage
FRAME: Custom profile tapered 7005 aluminium tubing with hydro-formed gusset, snake stays and disc mount
FORK: Rock Shox Judy TT
GEARS: Shimano Deore 27 speed with Shimano STI controls
CRANKS: Truvaliv Five D alloy cranks, 22/32/42 chainrings
WHEELS: Mavic 117 rims built on Shimano disc compatible hubs fitted with Tioga Factory XC tyres
BRAKES: Clarks Front and rear hydraulic disc
STEERING: Semi intergrated Ahead design with Truvativ handlebar and stem
Im not going to mention the brand name in a bid to stop brand snobbery, but the bike retails at £499
What do you reckon...worth it or not ??

Doesn't sound too bad. If thats your budget, go for a Trek/Specialised etc etc recognised brand make...? Having said that the pic/spec of the bike seems quite nice though...

If your sticking to mainly roads, why not get some slicks and dont bother with front suspension forks...other than that looks/sounds fine for the price. Look into a second hand GT zaskar etc.
