Earwigs are predominantly garden pests and have no public health significance, causing a nuisance only when entering houses. Many pest controllers therefore, only offer advice on self-help measures of control.

These include removing unessential plant debris, mulch and boards from around buildings and to remedy defective downspouts which might provide moist areas attractive to nesting females.

Many gardeners do not like earwigs, as they attack plants such as dahlias, chrysanthemums, clematis, apricots and peaches.

Only if you have any of the aforementioned plants in there.

Try to avoid getting one in your ear, it would drive you mental!
