Default IT jobs... (redundancy)

I've been given notice that my role is redundant and I only have a two week consultation period from today.

Oh well.... looks like I'll have to dig out my suit, refresh my CV and start hunting!

Can anyone recommend IT agencies or websites?

Looking for IT Manager/Consultant type roles based in Surrey/London.

It happens, and I'm surprised I wasn't made redundant last spring when our company was originally bought out. I've had a good run and the experience I've gained since then looks great on my CV. There has also been a big downturn in the Direct Marketing industry.

I'm just worried as my wife is currently on maternity leave and my daughter is only 11 weeks old!

oooh f*ck . They pick their times don't they.

Try PathwayIT in Sutton http://www.pathway-it.co.uk

Haven't had to speak to them for a while but they used to be pretty good.

No, should I have? Can you resend it my 07770 number (if you have two of them)?

Thanks

Re-sent, it was originally sent to the 07770 number - odd that anyway, it was on the 21st June but I'm sure the chap is still there. Probably worth giving him a buzz.

Please let me know if you don't get the message!!

best of luck mate

Smile IT Jobs

Andy,

Same thing is happening to me except my consultation has been going on since last October!!!....Just wish they would hand over the reddies and let me go.....but anyway I have recently updated my CV and uploaded onto www.jobserve.co.uk and have 2 permie interviews in the city already, both with big companies, both roles are Technical Consultancy/PM type jobs, so there is jobs out there and some good ones, from what I hear the market is quite boyent at the moment so you should be ok.......

apperently www.iprofile.co.uk is another good site to setup a profile and upload your CV although I am yet to use it.

Hope it all goes well and if I can help in any other way let us know.

Sean

I got a job through Pathway IT. Once you get them interested, they're quite keen and I could never get rid of the guy!
Try posting CV on cwjobs, planet recruit, jobserve.
Hope things work out soon and you get a decent payout to tide you over.

Hello mate,
All's not lost, I took a voluntary package from the IT company I worked for and managed to land another job in a week, and more than doubled my salary, things happen for a reason so don't worry,

I know a good recruiter that you can speak to, might have something in your area???

PM me if you want the details,

Mike

Bugger Andy

Have a chat with Steve Morrisey at e-CRM People - tell him I sent you. Steve is the sales director - very good and very helpful.

Cheers

James I got your PM and I was going to reply later!

Really positive day today, after spending most of yesterday putting my CV on any website that would take it, I've had a few interesting phone calls today.

Confirmed my applications to a couple of interesting jobs, one local and one in London.

Got one call from an agency who didn't even read my CV and asked me questions that were in he CV and then didn't listen to my replies!

Got another call who read my CV properly, and matched it to a perfect job. The money is a little better, but it sounds like the working conditions are better than I'm use to!! She was really positive that my blend of skills is quite rare!

I was postive yesterday, but today I'm happy and confident as well!

Should have a few interviews for next week at this rate!

There are loads of agencies, good and bad, but the one that stick in my mind as being the worst when I was contracting was MSB International, they advertised not existing roles to get CVs in and would try and poach you from other agencies by trying to find out what roles you've gone for within which company and agency, they would even try to poach you from their own collegues!! Not sure if they are still around, but I would avoid them.

Like the call I got yesterday where he kept pushing to find out which companies my CV has already been forwarded to. I told I didn't know and he seemed to get annoyed with that! Sounds like he wants to poach from wherever he can get the business.
