Best + Cheapest Satnav??
I'm thinking about getting Satnav at the end of the month, and want a portable setup to use between two cars.
What's the cheapest decent system?
I'm thinking about a Mio or Tom Tom Go at present - anyone got either of these?

I think Makro and Aldi have both advertised very cheap portable satnavs. I remember one shown on Makro mail was totally portable as it could use batteries aswell as a cigarette lighter. In theory you could attach it to your bike or go hill walking with it
Mio rings a bell with me so it could well be that one that i saw. If i were you i would wait for the offers to come up again from the likes of Makro and Aldi, they're cheap, effective and well worth the sub £200 bracket

What do you mean by "cheap" and what do you mean by "decent" and which are you prepared to compromise on the most?
PDA based - TomTom or Navman PIN are good
Dedicated unit - TomTom Go or Navman
All depends what your needs are really.

http://www.pocketgpsworld.co.uk/ then I clicked on the banner ad at the top for Compare TomTom go prices.
If you're only interested in UK maps, then the Go 300 will suffice. You can buy additional maps later if required.
The 500 can be linked via bluetooth to a phone for hands - free and has major European routes.
The Go 700 has everything in Western Europe.

I have a Mio168 with tomtom3 on it. Its a PDA, so more versatile than a dedicated unit (MP3 player, Games, Diary, Address book etc). Aerial is built-in, so no wires dragging about. have a look at this site

Curry's have the Navman ICN610 on offer when bought online for only £248.
It uses all the routing and mapping of the ICN630 and 650 but doesn't display maps in 3D. Even when I've used SatNav with 3D I always disply them in 2D as it's much clearer where your going.
It's by far the best deal on SatNav I've seen.

I just got a tom tom go700 for my mum if she manages to make it work then it must be a top bit of kit. Halfrauds staff even gave me a ripspeed catalogue that happend to offer £40 off as well.

Got a Garmin Quest for £300. Crashes quite a lot which is inconvenient at roundabouts, but if you only need it very ocassionally like us its fine with its small screen and ultra portability.

Tom Tom Go Is the market leader for a very good reason its 100% foolproof, a piece of **** to use. Very reliable, clear accurate mapping and at some stage you will be able to update directly from Tom Tom radar locations yay.
