Getting another job whilst using 'holiday'? legal?

I have approx 1 month of holiday to use up with my permanent job, but have been toying with the idea of taking this in one lump and getting a short contract during this time.

Is it ok to do this, or any potential problems?

Main one would be whether or not your current contract allows you to do other work while being employed by your current employer.
