Default Is winning the Olympic bid a good thing?

Please wait for the poll to come up.

There seem to be mixed views on whether this is a good triumph or a slightly hollow one. I'd be interested to see the result of such a poll.

It's just the "negative people" (or losers) tend to make more noise.

God bless Tony Blair!

If it pushes London into sorting out the transport network, then yes.

(we must make a good impression)

Read the olympic bid website - documents all the improvements that are planned.

New Labour spin and hype. I wouldn't believe a single word of it given their track record.

I think this is a major disaster in the making.

It could be awesome or it could be a complete disaster, let's home those involved get their acts together and make it awesome, it'll have a lot to live up to after China.

It could be the best ever - it's not often we can say that about anything British.

Imagine how much a Hotel room will cost, a pint of beer or even food, the prices will be inflated ten fold everyone trying to get rich over night. We also seem to have forgot the Live 8 thing or will they benifit from the profits. I do not care for either. CON

A similar poll on Sky news shows 75% are in favour.

As with most scoobynet polls, the results are meaningless. Why does this site attract so many people out of touch with the real public?

If the Sky poll doesn't include a "maybe" option and we take the "maybe"s on here as positive the poll currently stands at 69% for... So not that out of touch really.

(Current result = Yes 36, maybe 19, No 25)

London wins Olympic bid: Your reaction

Delighted 67.00% (9,005 votes)

Not bothered 21.15% (2,843 votes)

Disappointed 11.84% (1,592 votes)

Listen.. Listen harder..

You hear that?

That's my theory being shot down in flames..

Although my poll might have different results if I'd included a "not bothered" option.

I don't wish it to be a flop, but i just can't help but think of the Millennium Dome, the Channel Tunnel, the Rail link, and numerous other project's that have gone massively over budget, or just fecked up altogether, unfortunately it's got to the point where, if it's anything to do with this government, i just can't help but not believe a word they tell you.
P.S, i do honestly hope it's a great success, so we can prove that we still are GREAT Britain.
