Default London Win Olympic bid

I *think* this is great news. Not quite sure about the amount of money it may cost us though.

Then again the labour ***** will only waste it on other non importnant things if we dont get it.

Dome.002

I hope I'm wrong, but it will be a disaster and our taxes will be wasted.

It will make the Dome look like cash well spent. It "may" do a bit for a few in the already comparatively wealthy South, but it will do little for the lest of the country other than increase the tax burden.

Great Let the tax-payer rejoice!...........

So, no doubt the stadium/olympic village will be built in a deprived area where those that will benefit will not have helped pay for it with their taxes as they are invariably low-income or unemployed.

Another white elephant - didn't the Dome teach anybody about large-scale projects, New Labour and keeping to budgets!

Absolutely fantastic. I'm amazed at all the lard arsé Scoobynetters who think otherwise, particularly the wild comments about the supposed cost to the country!

Children have a great future in sport!!

If there was a *terrorist* equivalent to the richter scale, then I reckon London would be heading well off the scale by now

Policing costs alone are surely going to be astronomical.....

The rest of Great Britain needs to get its **** into gear and plan on taking advantage of what is an outstanding opportunity.

Do you think they'll be holding the sailing competitions on the Thames?

What a lot of whingers on this board. I think this is great news for the value of my house. I guess I'll end up selling it in 2011 and buying a nice property in the countryside. Maybe Scotland, or if that's a bit too expensive then Wales.

Congrats. It's a surprise as Paris was seen as the most likely candidate.

Money wise, if it can work for London even half as how it worked for Barcelona, it will surely be a positive thing.

I reckon it's the British cuisine that made the votes tip over in the end though
