Hello,

I could do with a bit of help with my UCAS form as i have no idea what to include on my personal statement aside from the obvious of academic performance and general interests. How can i make it a bit impressive?

Matt

I expect it depends on what course you are applying for. I used to work doing "admissions" for a Dental school and saw hundreds of UCAS forms per year.

We looked for evidence of work experience, working in teams and ability to tackle the problem based parts of the course as well as the academic stuff !!

Ask students on your proposed course what they put down and if they could remember what happened at interview

Hope this helps

Speak to the tutors at your college - they should be well experienced at helping with these. After all, they have little else to do now that the terms virtually over!

That's a rather ill-informed opinion

Whilst my lot have effectively finished, I've now got all the grading to complete for those who handed stuff in late (we're obliged to mark it )

Not "little else" to do.......

However, I'm sure that there are peeps out there who are in that position. Not me though. Neither will I have the mistical "Summer Holiday" off - I've got too much to do before September and not enough time. Might be lucky if I get 2 1/2 weeks (I also work all the other holidays too)

Bit of a raw nerve there

Dan

edited to add - for the poster's benefit, feel free to email me your statement so far. I assist in these statements every year. I would like to think I have a rough idea on what needs to be included Email's in my profile
