Default Holiday selection help.

My wife & I want to get away for a week in the sun towards the end of July. We usually do long haul but owing to the fact that Jules is 6 mths pregnant, we only want to risk short haul.

Our Holiday criteria is as follows.

- Will only fly from East Midlands or Birmingham on 17th or 18th July.
- Flight time of no more than 4 hours
- Coastal resort with sandy beaches (no pebbles, volcanic rock)
- Quiet and upmarket. Couples rather than families
- Fantastic restaurants & chilled bars to watch the sun go down
- Tranquil atmosphere for major relaxation (no loud pubs/clubs)
- Accomodation preferably small hotel (no high rise monsters) 4* and above (1/2 board)
- Budget £1000 max (total for both inc. flights/transfers etc.)

As mentioned above, we usually take long haul breaks to Maldives, Thailand, Mexico etc. and neither of us have done short haul beach hols. since the mid. 90's. It has been suggested that we should look at Menorca (Fornells) or the quieter Greek islands.

Any recommendtaions?

Where's Judith Chalmers or Monty Don when you need them?

Come on people, some of you MUST have similar preferences of holiday destination.

Also, anyone know whether it's worth risking a last minute booking in July being peak season and all? Will there be f'call choice left at the end?

Finally, what websites are people using to book with (lastminute.com, expedia etc.) and which websites are best for reviews?

TIA.
