Question Telewest - Any good & what £ for a full package

Nearly been talked into a full TW package of Broadband 1Meg, Complete Sky Package & Phone with free calls after 6, all with free installation for £72 per month (Plus daytime call costs).
Does this sound OK price wise & are there any quality issues with Telewest (Not that I don't have probs currently with BT/AOL/Sky digibox)?
Is there anything I should look carefully at in the smallprint???
Cheers
Steve

We've been with Telewest since the early anaolgue cable. Not really had any real issues. Save for the Sky Active not working. You know the whole "Press the Red button" to vote/email us whatever. Works for the BBC channels mind.

£72 per month for your TV pictures? Each to their own and all, but I'd rather cut off my arm than pay that!

the service is ok, just dont try and call them to sort a problem if you are in a hurry, customer service is a joke.

For that much, I'd want the, er, actresses as well as the pictures. £72 per month equates to £850 per year, a truly astonishing amount to spend on television.

Mind you, I'm just building up a £3k bicycle, so it's fair to say we all have our priorities!

I'm currently with plus.net broadband. £16.99 for a 2MB connection. 2Gb download limit, but you can pay a little more and up that. They are now starting to offer 8Mb connections.

Sky costs me me £30 per month for the Family Pack, Sky Movies 1,3,5 etc and Sky Plus.

Telephone costs roughly £43 a qtr with BT so call it £14.33 a month.

Add it all up and that comes to £61.32. So unless you are getting a load of extra channels I'd say you are paying over the odds.

Steve

How you doing?

I have been using Telewest for the last few years and have had no real complaint. In terms of cost, they seem to change their offeres regularly so it is difficult to tell

The only downside for me has been that I wanted to upgrade my Telewest set top box to one where I can feed an optical output in to my amp - they said I could only get one if my current one was damaged! - even though I was prepared to pay any extra.

Also worth considering that they say they are bringing out a recordable hard disk version of their set box later this year to rival Sky+.

Cheers
Peter
