Default Parking Ticket saga cont

If you can remember back to my post about my parking ticket if not here it is:-

I have just received a parking ticket!
Whilst going to a shop to get some change and then to the ticket machine on the way back to my car I found the ticket.

The times on the fine and the ticket are only 4 mins apart, in the time spent waiting box is a cross, in the time veihicle first seen box is a cross.

The warden must have got me on my way to the shops!

I have written to them enclosing a photocopy of the ticket and fine and complained that 4 mins is ample time to get a ticket and that they should throw out the fine.

I have recieved a letter saying thay have taken my comments on board but they feel that I still must pay the fine within 14 days or I will goto court.

Now I dont know what to do, should I goto court or just pay the bloody fine?

Anyone been in this situation?

Scott

Depends how desperately the parking authority is for money. Some areas of London for instance are so sort of cash, they are resorting to these sort of tactics, so little chance of any sympathy or redress. Might be worth contacting the local parking fines ombudsman, who may be prepared to write off the ticket.

A similar thing happens in a city in Ontario. The parking enforcement officers will still ticket someone who they can see has gone straight to the machine for a permit.

Its not London I like up in Hull.
Seems the council are being w*ankers.

4 mins is no way over the top to go pay for a ticket.

Id decline to pay and see what they say.

I got a ticket when the machine was broken and they said that they wouldn't let me off with it but I kept writing, appealing and presenting my case and eventually they let me off.

I VERY nearly had this happen to me in london - drove in PAST the the patrolling warden FFS straight into a space, get out, walk to the machine a good few hundred paces away - as i'm putting the money in the machine I can see the warden ****** at my car with his ticket machine poised - FFS!! shouted across to him I was in the process of buying a ticket & ran back to the car - and I was always in FULL view of the car/ticket machine at all times - gave the fecking warden a right earful for that - he WAS about to bang a ticket on - all in 3 mins or less! - so it does happen

Feckin London was only visiting a friend too!
