Default Wierd mobile texting problem.....

A friend and I keep having problems texting each other. We're both on o2 and both have Nokia 6230 phones. Basically the system is, at times, taking ages to deliver texts and when it does it will deliver a whole bunch at once. For example I was sent 6 texts at about 9 one evening but didn't get them. However, as soon as I sent a text at about 11pm I immediately received all 6 earlier texts all at once. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to this, it happens very frequently and O2 technical support were, to be frank, about as much use as a pair of paper pants in a forest fire.

Both of us are considering leaving O2 solely because of this tedious problem. Any mobile phone engineers/boffins have any ideas what might be causing this so I can try steer O2 in the right direction??

Ta

Don't know what the answer is, but before you go and change network, i get the same problem all the time on Vodafone, it does'nt seem to matter what network there sent from.

Either yours or your friend's mobile number is being monitored. When I worked for MI* it would sometimes take up to 20 hrs to release the text messages, so 6 hrs isn't too bad.

No, i have heard this happening before. It can be done quite easily if it's a company phone. I dont think this is the issue though if you have taken out a private contract.

Oh, unless you are a member of any shady fundamentalists or crack syndicate

My mate left O2 for this reason. Just took ages for him to receive a msg, and when he sent one it never came through sometimes.

I assume this problem only exists between you and your friend i.e. other people on 02 you can send/receive texts fine?

Simon.

I used to get this a couple of years ago, sending/receiving msg's Orange to Orange. No idea what caused it, sometimes if you turned the phone off/on, or made a call it seemed to give the msg's a kick and they'd arrive.

No problems for the last couple of years though, very happy with Orange.
