Did anyone hear the recording on the news - shocking!

In the recording, Pc Yates is alleged to have said: "If you say one more f****** word, I’ll smash your f****** Arab face in. Do you understand?"

The constable is said to have called the suspect a rapist and added: "You won’t swear at me again, sunshine, and this isn’t one that you won’t f****** get off of at court, because I’ll write it up properly."

No-one deserves to be abused, but my money's on he deserved it. The news seems to be suggesting that 'writing it up right' means they'll stitch him up. However, the previous conversation states how he got off a previous rap so maybe they mean it'll be written up properly so he can't get off on a technicality this time.

Seriously, though, I know nothing of this case (much like most people). If he's an innocent victim of abuse, then I hope the officer(s) in question are punished. I really hope though that it doesn't end up that another criminal thug gets off and gets compensation etc.

I think if you heard the recording you'd think otherwise.

If he actually is Arab, how is it racist saying "Arab". Didn't call him a "dirty arabic fish-farmer" or a "Paki" or other such like obscenities.....??

Haven't heard recording so dunno about that.....I'll have to take your word for it Rik.

It's like coloured/black people. If they're blac - they're black. It seems in order to qualify as a "n!gg3r" they have to be a gun wielding gangsta, and release pistol whipping rap music.

Why do "some" black people call each other "n!gg£r" ???? It hardly helps the cause does it.

the copper was hardly going to say these choice words to anyone as they walked down the street.

he was being arrested for a public order offence, it wasnt unjustified.

Everyone on this planet that has had any sort of physical confrontation with someone of a different race is lying if they say they never thought anything racial in their minds. That includes non whites thinking "honky" etc.

....but that's ok though isn't it.

If he's an arab then if you smacked him, you would, in fact, be smacking his arab face!! lol. So what's the problem?

if the kids guilty then screw him.....im sure the cop gets called pig a few times a day. Describing an Arabs face as "arab face" is hardly an evil act!

if he was fat i would have wanted him called fat face...same thing!

Not like he called him a raghead is it?

I'm not saying the rant was justified and swearing is a big no-no but it hardly seems a racially motivated case.

Have we decided who's side we're on in this one?

We didn't like the copper speeding much because that would have got us into alot of trouble!

A few racist remarks in an arguement and we'ed probably have to come up with a nice apology but nothing more. Let the guy off, he was probably provoked!

Get some consistency FFS. We'll never know why Mr.159mph was let off, and I'm sure there'll be the same comments on the outcome of this fiasco.

For my tuppence; I think him and his mates probably provoked the copper so they could record it. Disrespect on both sides.

Maybe I'm just a dumb whitey, but I don't see what the racism fuss is about by calling someone an Arab.

I'd certainly love to see where the constable's legal power to "smash someone's f****** face in" comes from, though.

Fair enough, the copper shouldn't have sworn but is it in the police training manual that everyone about to get nicked is called "Sunshine"

Bollards to the little arab.

He was obviously being a **** so stuff him. Copper should've battered him to make the masses of scum realise that police have the power and giveing them attitude will result in an ***-whooping.

and you know what, it has results !! people know what to expect and dont mess when theyre in sight !!!

EXACTLY (again)

Police are there to protect the many from the few that deem it necesary to act like *****. If they think they'll get away with it - they will.

Beat them, give them ****, and pan 'em. Lets get some standards back even if it means policing with fear.

being of a law abiding nature, I would have no problems with this policy. I wouldn't like to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time with some batton wielding adrenalin fueled uniform in front of me though!

Whilst extreme measures are required in extreme situations, the long term implications have to be looked at.

Yes but you would have to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time, doing the wrong THING.

I have a son, who im sure will grow up and do maybe a few things he should not, like we all did during our growing up period.

If he came home to me after getting a whollop from a copper, for calling him a w@nker etc, he would get another one from me.

I am so so fed up with feeling intimidated by groups of youths, knowing full well there is NOTHING to deter them from acting like *****.

POWER TO THE POLICE, but they must be trained how to use it, and not abuse it.

I feel better now.....
