Are youngsters any worse than they were, 40 years ago??
I don't think so, its the newspapers and TV that scare the crap out of people!!
How many people, upon reading something on Scoobynet, have been scared to drive their car?? Because ...
a) It will get rammed by Drug Barons and stolen, you will get raped and beaten senseless (of course!!)
b) It will blow up if you didn't close the drivers door in the correct manner
I think its just this kind of hype that scares people ....

Teenage hooligans terrorised Martin James, 64, so many times that he eventually fired an air rifle at them to scare them off - and landed himself in trouble.
Instead of tackling the louts, who had also vandalised his property, police threatened the despairing householder with prosecution for daring to use the firearm.
Days later Mr James hanged himself in his garden shed after leaving wife Angela a note bearing a heart-breaking message that summed up his misery.
"I'm sorry," he wrote. "The kids have beaten me."

All the parties are harking on about Respect..
This is about sums up your local crap stain who hangs around places where they don't really need to be, just looking for something to give them a buzz which can no longer be got from his or her Games Box, Mobile phone (with in built MP3 player, movie camera, bluetooth and real streaming multimedia), IPod, Broadband Internet, 500 channel Widescreen TV, DVD collection or £20 a week pocket money that can be spent in any number of McDonalds, Cinemas, Bowling Alley's, amusement arcades, Swimming Pools, Ice Rinks, XScapes.. etc etc...
Do me a favour. Apart from a lack of respect, there also a distinct lack of imagination and independent will. If their wish is not provided NOW and in their hands NOW then there's all sorts of tree hugging PC nannies running about claiming that modern children have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
When I was told that 'I'd never had it so good', I laughed. But I didn't do it in the old guys face as my mate kicked his walking stick away...

When I was a kid we used to think it was the funniest thing ever to go around knocking on people's doors then running away.
According to another forum, the current crase is to smack a random person across the head while your mate films it with a camera phone.
I think they're getting worse, yes.

back in my teenage days, we used to take a football down the park and have a kickabout until it was dark!!!!!
then we bought a can of special brew each and stood around pretending we liked the taste.

I cannot believe that PSL said that, unless his upbringing was in a really low life area. And even then children then would not dream of behaving in the way they do today.
Of course there were bad 'uns but not that many and they would not have been into the sort of evil pranks they get up to these days. The vicious behaviour they display now is truly frightening and I can only see it getting worse and worse as this sort of thing always does.
The media will doubtless have some effect in that they will delight in reading about their latest criminal activity.
This is not the basic reason for it all though. They have not known any discipline from their parents who in any case are no longer permitted to give them any kind of significant corporal punishment, if they actually care that is. Children are naturally prone to follow the pack and get into bad ways if they have not been brought up to respect others and to understand that in an ordered society they just cannot be allowed to do whatever they feel like.
Schools can longer discipline them as they used to with a session with a cane on their backsides and the liberal attitudes now mean they can get away with just about anything and if we defend ourselves robustly we are likely to be summonsed.
This is down to the modern PC attitude that children cannot be blamed for wrongful behaviour and must not be disciplined in case it represses their characters! This goes for criminals as well of course!
What a joke! I don't think much of the characters they are developing into.
Unless strong effective measures are taken now, this country will descend into complete anarchy.

Its a combination of two key things for me:
1/ Too many sprogs born out of wedlock to teenage mothers - poor effort of a father figure to look up to - the kid doesnt get the beating it should when it misbehaves.
2/ Too many softy namby pamby liberals in government preventing the police / public and schools from beating these kids when they step out of line.
The answer is simple - pain = discipline - make it legal give these kids a good beating every time they misbehave - and if that doest work then make it legal to give the beatings to the parents instead. Im sure there's some miggil ground between my line and the liberal soft line that would sort out these scum sub-humans...

Heard the ultimate on the happy slapping craze today. A teenage girl, a victim of said craze, was knocked unconcious ........ must have been SOME slap.
Yes , they ARE worse than they were a couple of decades ago.
It used to be harmless fun aimed at inanimate objects. Now it's people who are the targets. NOT funny.

Comparing the situation now with as it was a few years ago Ted Maul, I don't think I was going too far overboard.
Having said all that, I did meet a bunch of lads on a narrow bridge last night when I was going sea trout fishing. They got out of the way to let me pass and wished me luck.
Goes a long way to restore the faith!
