Default Recommend me some music

Run out of things to listen to. Anyone got any suggestions. I don't really like Rave, Techno or Garage. In addition boy/girl bands are out too. Other than that I don't really mind.

Savage Garden - crank up the stereo, wind the windows down and play Affirmation really, REALLY loud - it's what sunny days were meant for!

The Killers

Also saw an advert on telly the other night for this CD and there seem to be a number of my current favourites on there. Saves having to buy a number of CDs when you get all the current ones here!

Latest Green Day is excellent. If youve never listened to the White Stripes I recomment White Blood Cells (Fell in Love with a Girl) and Elephant (Seven Nation Army) also. The new Chemical Brothers album is good; but Surrender from 1999 is excellent.....

Thumbs up

Neil

I can't recommend Jack Johnson highly enough...

God only knows how he hasn't made it huge in Britain yet, he's massive in Aus & NZ. Great songwriter (and voice) who, if you're into acoustic music, wins hands down

Read some of the reviews on Amazon ... you won't be disappointed

You mustn't have Faithless' Reverence in your collection, there's no way any right thinking person owning that could run out of stuff to listen to

See they've got a greatest hits at the moment.... probably worth a bash if you don't already own everything they've every recorded

The only downside was that ***** made it big after her brother's help

Gotta agree with Rooster - despite my reservations when buying it - and Green Day.

Both good albums all the way through with no filler tracks.

Hocico - Wrack & Ruin. May be an acquired taste (unless you're already into Mexican industrial music!), but I bought it months ago and I'm still not bored.

Mostly all too modern.
Get Linda Rondstadt singing old hits arranged by Nelson Riddle on CDs such as
For Sentimental Reasons
and
Lush Life
You will be singing along
Also for something different & mellow try anything by Basia.
Oh and the Dusk till Dawn soundtrack

Kaiser Chiefs are pretty good.

Eels new album is brilliant.

The live version of Love - Forever Changes is also essential.

I also quite like the new Rufus Wainwright album.

Why not do something a little different from the normal, if you are used to pop/rock music, and listen to some piano concertos. You can't beat them and the tension created in trying to balance a piano against an orchestra is wonderful.

Rachmaninov - 2nd or 3rd piano concertos are true works of genius but very well known, lovely tunes and accessable.

Brahms - 2nd probably the biggest of the romantic piano concertos and asks a lot of the soloist.

Beethoven - 4th and 5th considered the first true piano concertos in the modern sense. the 5th is perhaps most famous but the 4th is a wonderful work.

Prokofiev - 3rd and 5th slightly more modern perhaps but still in the classical style and the 5th is very demanding for the soloist.

Stay away from the French, Russians rarely get it wrong with piano concertos. That's about all you need to know :-)
