Distance learning - A levels
Anyone done this, or have any experience? I know it's a long shot, but I'll try.
I've found a few good resources, like Oxford Open Learning, ICS Home Study distance learning, ASW2 Online A levels, and NEC. If anyone's used any of these, or other similar ones, I'd be pleased to hear your views.
The main thing I'm concerned about is how to keep the student motivated - he lapses while at full-time school, so I'm concerned about chances when stuck at home in the bedroom all day!
Cheers
Brendan

I did a couple of online courses and found the hardest part was getting and staying motivated. The temptation to sit and surf whilst at the computer was overwhelming and I have to say that NSR was actually a lot more interesting than the course work. I never did finish the courses but racked up a few hundred more posts on Scoobynet
Sorry, that was no help at all was it?

Sal, it strengthens what I'm thinking, that I should not connect the PC to the internet! I'll give him 30mins a day to use the internet PC to collect files, then he can read them elsewhere! :****:

afraid I can't offer any encouragement either; tried doing geography A level whilst on night shift (lots of 'idle' time), but as there was no peer pressure, no benchmark, no real motivator I flagged it away after a few months.
tried again a couple of years later by signing on at the local polytech for 2 evenings a week and passed the exam after 4 months slog (i.e. had the peer pressure, the motivator, the deadlines ...)
