Why did one of "them" put a sticker on my wife's CRV?

There'd be a riot if they did that up here where every other car is a 4x4. How about a Scoobynet group 4x4 drive and park to Camberley?

Just sent an email to Ken:
Have you no common sense whatsoever - what a mindless and banal programme!
Where will it stop?
What is classed as a 4x4?
What if it runs on LPG?
What if it is used to carry 7 people at a time?
What if it has a smaller 'footprint' than a Rover 75?
What if it looks 'rufty tuffty' like a 4x4 but actually only has 2 driven wheels?
What if someone needs one for other uses, but also requires to visit urban areas - do they need to hire a car to visit the city? - or own a second car for the purpose?
Crazy Ken!!!! - Just Crazy!

I bet the electricity supply into their homes is more accountable to the polution in the environment, than a couple of big cars!
Unless they are the sort with solar panels to heat their water, wind turbine for their electricity and a reed bed to filter the sh*t they spout!!!
I stand by my original comment......

This organisation is run by Sian Berry. It isn't clear where she is getting her funding from but her organisation has links with Greenpeace and FoE, for example a recent newsletter from her organisation contained the following:
"From 5pm, you are also invited to a social and 4x4
info-tainment event at
Greenpeace HQ, Islington, North London."
You should also note the following statement on their policy, lest anyone fall for this divide and conquer tactic:
"On Sat 26th Feb (2 days before the end of the consultation period) we'll be polling members of the public on our proposal to raise the congestion charge significantly for big 4x4s and other vehicles with poor urban fuel consumption.
In teams of 8 we will take to locations around London, with polling cards and leaflets with more information, and ask Londoners what they think of our suggested increase. We will (potentially) include these findings in our submissions to TFL on Monday morning."
Lest you missed it she is also out to get other vehicles with poor urban fuel consumption. This will soon translate to any vehicle used for private transport I would guess.
I am told Sian Berry has also stood as a Green Party candidate and is involved in Camden:
http://www.camden.greenparty.org.uk/News/news4x4s.html
So, while she is the figurehead for this "organisation" it doesn't look like she thought it up all on her own with no external political infulence.
And this is what she does in her day job:
http://www1.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/...ian.berry.html
Again it is important to understand that this is a divide and conquer tactic on their part, they are literally picking on what they see as a weak link in that many motorists think large 4WD vehicles a bit unnecessary in towns. The anti-motoring lobby are using this as a start on their attack against access to private transport of any type.
While it is impossible to say who did the deed in this particular case at least you now know who started it all. We are told that she started the campaign because she was horrified by the number of large 4WD vehicles that passed her while she was waiting for her bus. Nothing to do with the leaders of some Stalinist green control freak organisation asking her to do it then, I suppose :-)

Aside from the gas guzzling issues, one thing has always geniuinely puzzled me about 4x4's. Most parents (women) use them to take the kids to school because they feel they're safer in them. Fair comment.
But surely as soon as the kid sets foot outside of them - in front of the school gates (which are awash with other women who have no idea how to manoever them) - then the kids are at far higher risk. Being hit, even at low speeds, by a 4x4 will kill a child, whereas being hit by a standard car would 'only' result in injury (not ideal I know, but preferable under the circumstances).
I know I'm a bit of a tree hugger, but it's honestly not the fuel consumption issues that bother me with them (afterall I do drive a WRX!) - it's the safety aspect. I'd be grateful if someone could explain the logic to me.

I'd agree with the safety aspect of them. When one of those large 4x4s hits you, you really feel it. Even if you are in your car!
There is some numpty around here that has a Range Rover on 23" wheels. Drives it like a muppet, cos after all with something that big he bullies everyone out of his way. Its drivers like that who cause the problem. I'd like to see him in a Metro, something really fragile so that he will not bully other road users.
I have no desire to ban 4x4s per se, but I would like to see less of them on the roads. Just seems silly to have these massive things in town centres causing hassle. No objection to them if you need one, but a lot seem to want to pose around in them. Again, no real issue as long as they do no t*at someone with them.
