Florence for 2 nights
Looking for some recommendations please. for a two night stay at a hotel.
The girlfriend and myself are lookng for a nice, stylish, but not too ponsy (sp) or expensive hotel either in the centre of Florence or on the outskirts, with a short taxi ride to the centre.
So far, the ones we've seen that look good are Bettoja Relais Certosa (outskirts) and Botticelli (centre).
Cheers

Try the Hotel Bernini Palace.

You can't be any more central. A few minutes walk from the Pontevechio, only a minutes walk to the Uffizi Gallery (on the square where Hannibal was filmed), and an absolutely lovely old hotel.
Ignore the rack rates. Contact them by email or phone and you'll get a deal. Think I got a double room for 3 nights for around 180 euros/night.....and aircon works REALLY well - room was like a fridge, which is what we needed when we were there as Firenze was in the middle of a heatwave!
Recommendation was from someone on SN a few years back, and I second the recommendation.

Hi Imlach
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out.
Definitely not interested in chain style, corporate facilities driven, characterless hotels with loads of rooms. Doubt we'll get to use swimming pools, gyms etc as we'll be too busy taking in the delights of the city.
We want a place that captures the essence of Florence and has a individualistic appeal to it.
Cheers
