When he said he is listening he meant to the honest motorist NOT to the criminals who break the speed limits.
He said he will give the communities BACK to the people and that includes getting the anti-social speeders OFF our roads

The law sates you should not exceed X MPH on a set road, if you exceed this you are breaking the law, and if my understanding of criminal is correct? It is someone who breaks the law?

OK, you don't have a Criminal Record for speeding ......... you are STILL a criminal in the eyes of the community ...
And, today, the community have declared WAR on the anti-social behaviour of a few selfish idiots!!
BAN loud exhausts!
BAN those caught speeding twice in a built up area
BAN the yob culture
BAN the boomboxes
The Communities are going to take back the streets .......... so, stop speeding and risking our childrens lives!

The people described above are the heart of the Labour vote. Without them Tony would be like Kinnock and Foot, therefore they will only gain in strength in the next 4 years.

Are there any warnings of these vans?
They don't seem to have warning signs on the A34 in Hants when the vans are overhead so I wondered if they bothered to abide by the law regarding warning signs on the M27.

But just to nip it in the bud the motorway speed limit of 70mph was imposed (followng a high speed cobra run curiously) at a time when cars took about 5 miles to stop from 70mph. Your modern transit van with over-weight pie eating, disfigured and retarded driver can probably still pull up from 70mph quicker than a 70s sports car Speed doesn't kill, it just makes things worse. Moron drivers kill!

The speed limits may be wrong in places like the motorway - but, they are there - they are the law - they are to be adhered to or you will get a fine and points.
Would you STILL steal from a shop if you KNEW there were cameras trained on you??
NO??
Well, why do it on the roads?? - Can't understand it myself??

And for information:-
""The 70 mph National Speed Limit was introduced as a temporary measure in December 1965. It is often blamed on Barbara Castle, but at the time the Minister of Transport was Tom Fraser.
The reason given was a spate of serious accidents in foggy conditions, but it is often claimed that the MoT had been alarmed by AC Cars testing their latest Cobra on the M1 at speeds up to 180 mph.
It was confirmed as a permanent limit in 1967, by which time Barbara Castle (a non-driver) had become Minister of Transport. There was surprisingly little debate at the time: the fact that the average family car of the time could only just exceed 70 mph perhaps had something to do with this.
It should be noted that this limit applied to all previously "derestricted" roads, not only motorways.
All rural roads in the Isle of Man (including most of the famous TT course) remain genuinely derestricted, as a matter of interest""

If they passed a law that said people of 70+ couldn't misbehave on the internet or drive convertibles would you let it pass without comment?

Also, would you respect a law against 70+ misbehaving on the internet, or would you deem it so ludicrous you would just carry on anyway? You would carry on anyway, and you know it!

I drive like a nutter now, and I ride my bike like I stole it. Might as well enjoy it before ISA and GPS based monitoring is introduced.

PSL, you do leave yourself wide open.
All this from a man who was telling us he was driving at 90 MPH the other day.
Hypocrites, like liars, should have good memories!

This place will just go to the dogs now. I came back from Manchester airport last night and had a copper in an Astra follow us round for 10 minutes. I dont mind that, it was late Sunday night, 5 lads in a car. But he just followed us for miles on a funny route then buggered off, why not just pull us over?
The speed limits need reviewing, but they generate too much revenue with the cameras so they will never do it. Such a shame that we dont have a gov't that is clever enough to generate revenue legitimately rather than targetting hard working citizens.
And for pissy lewis, I dont speed, have never been done by scameras, and have a clean license, but that doesnt change my mind on the issue.
